Alicante Airport (ALC) serves the southern and central Costa Blanca for holiday destinations like Torrevieja, Benidorm and of course Alicante. Although not as busy as Malaga Airport it still deals with over 3 million passengers a year and is still one of Spain busiest international airports. Alicante Airport deals mainly with flights from the UK, Germany and Holland, although there is increasing demand from some Spanish domestic routes like Madrid, Barcelona and Plama de Mallorca.

About Alicante Airport

Construction of Alicante Airport began in 1965 with the development of some 2,700 metres of runway and taxi area. A couple of years later in 1967 Alicante Airport was opened for international flights, domestic flights as as well commercial flights. The airport soon became busier and buiser and underwent several revamps, the last of which was in 1996 when it underwent a major refurbishment.
