The airports in Italy suffered two years of lower passenger numbers in 2008 and 2009 but during 2010 there was somewhat of a recovery with Turin and Bologna heading the revival. The fastest growing of the Italian airports was Turin Airport and July 2010 saw its millionth Ryanair passenger arrive.

Overall growth in the Italian airports saw a 6.5% rise during the first eleven months of 2010 and this was even despite the volcanic ash scenario.
