Charles de Gaulle Airport Terminal BuildingsDetailed information on the terminal buildings at Charles de Gaule airport - Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport comprises of three main terminals. The original terminal building and oldest terminal at Charles de Gaulle airport is naturally Terminal 1, which was constructed originally for Air France but since that time the airport has expanded and was opened up to allow many other arlines to use terminal 1 as well. Terminal 1 Charles de Gaulle Airport Paris If you look at terminal 1 from the air you can see the impressive octopus design with its central circular main section linking to seven satellite areas and an eighth giving access to tge rail shuttle service and cars. The main central building at terminal 1, Charles de Gaulle airport (the octopus body) has a huge skylight right in the centre which was one of the most impressive design aspects of the designer Paul Andreu. There are ten floors within terminal 1 although the first floor is only for airport staff. The second floor at Charles de Gaulle airport terminal 1 houses a number of shops and restaurants. On floor three of the airport you will find the majority of the check in desks for departures and this floor is also where you will have access to / from taxis, buses and other vehicles. Heading upwards in terminal 1, once you have checked in and gone through security you will find the duty free shops, all of which is on level four. This is also where you have access to the satellite terminals mentioned earlier where you will find the actual boarding gates for your flights. This is also where flight arrivals at Charles de Gaulle airport come in to. Up on the fifth fllor you will have access to baggage recalim, customs and the arrivals hall. All floors above this point are for car parking or are reserved for the airlines themselves. In summary, terminal 1 at Charles de Gaulle airport Paris is comprised of one main building where all the check in desks, baggage reclaim areas are located and then there are seven inter-connected satellite terminals for arrivals and departures, with each one of the satellites able to hande around five aircraft at any one time.
Terminal 2 Charles de Gaulle Airport Paris Terminal 2 is made up of a number of smaller terminals named 2A, 2B, 2C, 2D, 2E, 2F and another located about 2.5kms away. Terminal 2 is obviously much smaller than the main terminal 1 building although it is where you will find the RER and TGV stations which are known as AƩroport Charles de Gaulle 2. Terminal 3 Charles de Gaulle Airport Paris Terminal 3 is again a small terminal and is situated about 1 km from the main terminal 1 building. It is recommended that you utilise one of the transfer mechanisms to travle between the terminals as on foot the walkway is not a straight line and is actually about 3kms on foot, not something you want to do with baggage.
